Swing biography

Swing (real name : Richard Anthony Silva II) was born in the USA on September 17th 1969. After spending his childhood in Brooklyn, he spent a couple of years in the West Indies and Panama. He started his musical carrer doing hip-hop under the name Swingfly. He was spotted by producers collective TimeBomb (Christian "Falcon" Falk and Ayodele "Ski" Shekoni, DJ Sleepy, ADL...) and came to Stockholm from New York in 1991, after releasing his first single Hard copy/Safe Sex. After a house single entitled Move Your Body, a series of albums was planned, but the record label bailed out. He then shortened his name to Swing, and became the rapper for eurodance project Amadin.

This allowed him to meet Dr Alban and they decided to make a record together, a eurodance remake of the Eurythmics hit Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This). The vocalist Birgitta Edoff was also invited to be a part of the project. The single was produced by V. Salazar and F. Lokar, engineered by P. Haggstrom. Executive producer was Dr. Alban himself. Extended version was done by V. Salazar, the Aura mix was done by Johan S., Tabledance version was remixed by P. Haggstrom. The single was recorded at Dr. Records and went #12 in Sweden.

A video was shot for Sweet Dreams, Alban and Birgitta appeared in the clip. In 1995 also was released Sweet Dreams Remixes. It includes 2 tracks : The Real Version & Junglebook Mix.

In 1996, he visited several tracks of ADL's Absent Minded project. One of the songs was used for a Hugo Boss commercial, allowing them to hit the road supporting the Fugees European tour in 1996

1997 : Swing changed his name into Swingfly again and recorded a single featuring Lutricia McNeal entitled Street Life.

Today Swing is a highly respected artist in the Swedish music industry. He has appeared as a guest rapper in many project such as Blacknuss Al-Sars and Teddybears STHLM aka Teddybears Stockholm (on the track Hey Boy). His music has also been featured in a lot of films, TV-series and adverts. He is Swedish naturalised

2001 : Swing recorded a rap duet with Ayo entitled Come Get It.

2002 : he released a collective single gatheringCome Get It and It's Alright with 8-Off Agallah, AYO and Dappa Don.

2006 : he got signed under label Dolores Recordings. He released the hip-hop single Something's Got Me Started and did guest raps on Freddie Cruger's album Soul Search. A studio album was planned but never released.

2008 : Swing scored a big hit in Sweden with the song Singing That Melody. Korean artist Tony An recorded a Korean language cover of the song. He started working on his upcoming solo album, God bless the IRS, which was delayed after his arrest on drug charges. The record finally came out in 2009.

2011 : he took part to Melodifestivalen 2011 with the song Me and My Drum, finishing 5th. The song went #2 in the Swedish sales charts, and was his most successful single.

2016 : Swingfly participated again in Melodifestivalen with the song You Carved Your Name featuring Helena Gutarra. He did not qualify to the finals
