Lorenza biography
Vocalist and vocal coach Lorenza Clarissa Van Vliet was born on the 7th April 1974 (or 7th August according to other sources) in Rotterdam. Her father was Dutch and her mother was Indonesian. She has 3 sisters and brothers. Very early she showed her musical talents and studied theater at school. Then she sung as soprano in a choir (Sopraneim Kirchenchor). In 1993 she performed at Nacht van Oranje in Ayoh Rotterdam. Next year, she won the first place in a talent search competition in Rotterdam, which lead her to take part to a song festival in Brasov, Romania. During this festival, she sung in front of 10 000 persons and won the 6th place.
In 1995 she created the project Lorenza with the rapper D-Smoove. Their first single Show Me Your Love was very succesful. She was a part of the Rednex "Wish you were here" Tour.
The next year, she toured with Backstreet Boys. Then came the second single And The Beat Goes On, which entered the German top 100. The last single was recorded with the charity project Hand In Hand for Children. She did concerts with Mr President and toured with DJ Bobo and Shaggy in 1997. Lorenza also sang in the studio for Sony Music Inc. for bands like Culture Beat, La Bouche and 2-4 Family.
1998 : she performed during Jóse Carerras Gala and contributed to Cosmic Soul Band.
During her career she met many stars like James Brown, Ray Charles, Paul Young and still dearest friends The Commodores. She took part to the TV-shows Kinder Wetten Dass and the Dome. Then in 1999 she was spotted by Holger Köhlitz, Tobias Griebel and the manager Andreas Bonnet to replace Shelly Williamson as singer for the Cover-up project. She also took part to various bands based in Karlsruhe.
Lorenza loves to sing, to dance, horse-riding, to eat, and her 2 cats Cashmir & Luca. Her favourite singers are Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, and Aretha Franklin. Her favourite actor is Jean-Claude van Damme.
2007 : she became one of the members of the Karlsruher groove party band Karlsgroove.
2009 : Lorenza plans to release a new single.
Nowadays, she still lives in Germany with her 2 sons. She teaches young talents at a music college in Karlsruhe, Germany.
