Gary Bokoe biography

(Gary, aka Gary B). Real name is Boris Köhler.

Gary was born in Stockholm (Sweden) but grew up in Germany. His father comes from Jugoslavia and his mother is Dutch. He began to develop his musical talents at the tender age of 9, studying classical music, playing electronic piano and writing love songs. Seven years on he became a foundation member of the underground Rap group, Make It Ruff (a DJ, a rapper and a female vocalist), where he formed and shaped his ragga-rap style. At the beginning the contents of their texts were very political because they worried about the resurgence of fascism in Germany.

His passion for rap led him to work as an assistant in recording studios and as a DJ. That is how he crossed his future producer's way. He immediately accepted their proposal to become the rapper of their new-born project Maxx under the name of Gary B. Afterwards he took part to Odyssey's single Boom Boom, and to Blind Date I Wanna Have Fun, and began to work with O'Jay (ex-rapper and co-producer of Real McCoy ) in their own records company Pitch Bulls™ Productions. He co-produced O'Jay's first solo single Nite To Remember. He has also written some songs together with Mark'Oh such as Randy (Never Stop The Feeling).

Gary always performs whit great conviction, presenting his own creation of ragga-rap and speedmuffin which made the distinctive 'maxxamuffin'. He lives nowadays in Berlin in his parents' home, near the Ku'damm. He collects hats. He likes to control everything in his job, beginning by the concerts' preparation.

2005 : Gary aka Boris is still collaborating with O-Jay, they are both producers at Blue PM label.

Thanks to O-Jay
