Mike Staab biography

Mike Staab (real name Michael Staab) used to be a hard rock DJ in a renowned club called The Cave, later renamed La Java in Aschaffenburg which appealed to a mainly biker audience. Later he got a break and landed a job with the Schüler and Presinger GmbH and spun records at Aladdins also in Aschaffenburg, close to Frankfurt.

Mike set up 2 recording companies : Edition Nosferatu and later Edition Private Area. In 1985 he co-produced a record called the Sounds of Frankfurt which sparked the beginnings of the European Techno scene. This was his big break, he went onto co-produce the Delegation's remix of Where Is The Love.

He created and produced the Mysterious Art project, featuring vocalists Nicole Kolb and Stephanie Trautmann, scoring hits with Das Omen (2 month at #1, 5 months in the Top Ten Charts) and Carma. The band even performed live as a supporting act for Madonna ! Meanwhile, he produced cuts for local DJs including "Synergy at work" under his records company.

1991 : He produced the project Time To Time. 10 Kleine Negerlein reached #1 in the MM Charts 1991. Follow up singles such as Omnibus and Zeitsprung have been played in clubs all over Germany and France.

In 1993, sitting in his record shop, contemplating his future, he vowed to revive OMEN III under a new name and came up with Magic Affair

Under the name Misar, he co-produced the project Le Voyage with Wagenknecht and Amir Saraf. He did remixes for E-connection's Dreamin' Of You and for Pearl's Summer Holiday.

2001 : Mike became the owner of a club in 2001 and founded a new record label, Kaufhouse, together with two of his good friends.

2008 : his new project is called Cubed³.

He died on 11th May 2009.
