Southend biography
This project of Volition Records included a female vocalist (Melinda McCarthy) and a rapper. Other members were Pocket, the keyboardist Steve Younan, Sameer Sen-Gupta, and Stuart McCarthy. Their debut release was the EP Fanatical. Then came Take Me Up and Get Down in 1993.
The next single, entitled The Winner Is, was released in 1994 and had some success in thier home country, reaching #9 on Aria singles chart. It featured Nik Fish. Their lovely eurodance single If You Believe was licensed under EDEL Records company in Germany.
The project also released an album entitled Fanatically Remixed. All tracks were written by Southend (apart from the tracks If You Believe and The Dream which were co-written by Ben Suthers), programmed and engineered by Sameer Sen Gupta, recorded at Sigma Studios.
A second album was released in 1995 : Confession / The Dream. This time it featured the vocals of Melinda Page. A single with the same title was released the same year.
The team of Southend also collaborated to the project Vagen.
2004 : the single Buggin was released vs Vagen. Originally released in 1994 on Say No More, this classice rave track was remixed to suit the 2004 style.
