Fabio Sarni biography

Fabio Renato Sarni aka Fabio S was born May 22nd 1969 in Olbia (Sardinia, Italy). He grew up and lived on the Island of La Maddalena. His uncle Filippo Marini was a singer, he released 2 singles in French : Comme un Fou and Melinda. His dad Antonio Sarni used to be a guitar player and his mum Carla Marini used to be a singer. Fabio started singing at the age of 5, by listening to the records that his uncle brought from the mediterranean clubs where he performed with his band. Singing brought him joy and made him feel unique. He wrote his first song, Mi Sentivo in Colpa at the age of 17 in 1985. He recorded it in Massa in 1993, but it was never officially released.

But his parents, even if they had themselves a musical background preferred him to choose a stable job, so he joined the navy in 1990. This lead him to the coast guards in Marina di Carrara. In Carrara, he took part to song contests in the casino Sanremo Giovani and qualified to the final in 1994, that he could not attend as he was getting married the following day. Then in 1993 he participated twice in TV show Karaoke con Fiorello (on Italia 1). The second time, it was in Porto Ferraio (Elba island) in November 1993 and he won the episode by performing almost all by himself Brian Adam's song Everything I Do.

In March 1995, he contributed to Po.Lo's most successful single I Want You, not only as composer and songwriter, but also as (uncredited) vocalist. Leslie Parducci also contributed to the songwriting, while Luca Valeri created the demo. The song was licensed in 20 countries around the world, and became such a hit that DWA, the record company demanded that he took a 6 month vacation from his job to tour and promote the song, which was impossible because of his job in the coast guards. He got fired from DWA, argued with his friend Luca Valeri. DWA probably spread the word so that he could not find and job anymore in the musical business. Fortuantely, he was friend with music video director Giacomo De Simone who introduced him to Marco Carmassi from Pisa. In his studio he met the singer Antonella Massaro. This is how he contributed to projects T-Rex as backing vocalist, and to Nick Ray as main singer.

In 1998, he wrote the song I Can't Stay Without You for a 4 boys band who worked in the Italian television show Sarabanda on Italia 1 channel. The title was in English, but the song, produced and published by Mitika International, was Italian. The same year he opened Adelmo e i suoi Sorapis' concert in Pontremoli (a band formed by famous artist better known as Zucchero). This was made possible thanks to his friends Giacomo de Simone and Agostino Scarfo, who knew Adelmo Fornaciari's enturage. This allowed him to meed Zucchero as well as Fio Zanotti and Michele Torpedine (now manager of Il Volo).

In 2001, he met Alessandro Bertagnini, founder of eurodance project Indiana (All I Need Is Love). He recorded with him 2 dance songs (It's Only Love and Gotta Little Dog) for Patrizia Tanini's record label Giglio Edizioni Musicali. From 2002 to 2010, he played in piano bars and worked with some bands, then in 2011 he stopped his musical carreer.

Later he worked in Capo d'Orlando, still for the coast guards and became squadron leader. His ship helped and save thousands of refugees. Nowadays he lives in Brolo (Messina province). His son Stefano is also a singer and songwriter

2024 : he recorded a new version of I Want You with DJ Samus as well as a brand new song, You Don't Let Me Go, released under label Eurodance Vibes

2025 : Fabio released a cover of Johnny Hates Jazz's Shattered Dreams. Then came a disco house version of his hit with Po.Lo I Want You, in collaboration with Francesco Alberti.
