Pompoos biography

The word comes from French "pompeux". Project was founded by fashion designer Harald Glööckler and Dieter Schroth. Born in Baden-Württemberg in 1965, Harald created his first dress as he was only 7, for his aunt. After his school education, he completed his apprenticeship at the shop Sämann in Maulbronn. He opened his first fashion shop in Stuttgart in 1987.

A single entitled I Want Your Love and an album Pompöös Is My Life were released under the label Blue Flame Records. They were produced by Lenny Mac Dowell (real name : Friedemann M. Leinert), Nikolei Dotzek, Oliver Voigt (Basic Art) and Piero "Pini" Brunetti. It featured the vocalists Daria, Dieter Schroth, Harald Glöckler and Lila Pearl. It was licensed in Spain under MX Records. A perfume of the same name was also launched, and a Haute Couture Show was organized in Neuen Schloss.

In 1995, 1996 and 1997, a Pompöös Haute Couture show took place in Stuttgart. In 1997 Harald started painting, he opended his own gallery the next year. In 1999 he launched the CPD, the largest fashion trade fair in the world, in Düsseldorf. The same year, he launched his Pret-a-Porter collection.

2002 : Harald Glööckler created 350 costumes for the Friedrichstadt Palace, Europe’s largest revue theatre

2004 : he launched Pompöös Pret a porter, jewellery and lingerie collections

2005 : he launched of his first bed linen and home wear collection. The same year, he became ambassador to the German child relief organisation and patron of the child emergency assistance endowment fund

2006 : he launched his first men’s wear collection. It is said that he inspired Sacha Baron Cohen for his movie character Brüno.

2007 : a new perfume called With Love was launched, as well as a Pompöös shoe collection and the first Pompöös porcelain by Seltmann Weiden

2009 Harald Glööckler began to work with Granada ITV

2010 : Harald shot a reality show for ITV Sender Living UK He was member of Let’s Dance jury.

2011 : he was again jury member in Let’s Dance. He designed a collection for Lidl.

2012 : he published his second book "Jede Frau ist eine Prinzessin" (every woman is a princess). He contributed to Dog Couture, a fashion collection for dogs, and launched Pralinöös, a collection of praline.
