Mauro Picotto biography

The Italian DJ and producer Mauro Picotto was born born 25 December 1966 in Cavour. His father ran a mason's yard called CRW. He also had dancers in his family. He started practicing as a DJ, and after he won the Walky Cup competition on national TV, he met Daniele Davoli from Black Box. He released his first single, We Gonna Get, produced under Media records project R.A.F.. He then co-wrote We've Got to Live Together, which was a top 40 UK Singles Chart hit.

Still as a Media Studios member, he collaborated to many eurodance acts, the most well-known being Cappella, but also Clubhouse (Light My Fire), 49ers, Anticappella (Express Your Freedom). He also collaborated to some Gigi d'Agostino's singles. He kept on contributing to R.A.F. and even released a few singles as R.A.F. By Picotto, including Bakerloo Symphony, Angels' Symphony and a new version of Cappella's What I Gotta Do. Meanwhile, he kept on DJing every weekend.

As a solo artist, he won substantial acclaim in the late '90s/early 2000s with a number of popular trance songs in Europe. In particular, Lizard (Gonna Get You) (top 30 hit on the UK Singles Chart), Komodo (Save a Soul) (#13 in the UK), Iguana, and Pulsar were some of Picotto's biggest hits, not only in Italy but also in other European countries like Germany. He performed Komodo on BBC's iconic show Top of the Pops, becoming the first DJ to mix live on the show and gaining the alias "The Lizard Man".

With Andrea Remondini, Massimo Chiticonti and Riccardo Ferri, he started trance project CRW (named from his dad's mason's yard). Their single I Feel Love went #15 in the UK.

In addition, he served as A&R and in-house producer for BXR Records, which featured a number of high-profile artists like Mario Piu. He also did remixes for artists and band such as York, Freddie Mercury, Jimmy Somerville, the Pet Shop Boys and U2.

2002 : Mauro left Media records. In 2006, he founded Bakerloo Music (under which he released his third album Superclub), as well as the sublabel Alchemy (with Riccardo Ferri). He launched his Meganite party at the Miami Winter Music Conference. This event ran every Wednesday since then at superclub Privilege Ibiza (but also in London, Miami, Turin, Glasgow, New York and Montreal).

2005 : he headlined the dance stage at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland, in front of thousands of people

2007 : He released the single Evribadi as well as a new 14-tracks album entitled Now & Then

2017 : he released the album A Call in the Club.
