Jinny biography

Jinny was a project created by producers Alessandro Gilardi, Walter Cremonini and Claudio Varola. Frontlady was Carryl Varley. Project featured various vocalists : Debbie French, Sandy Chambers and Lyv McQueen.

Jinny first single was entitled I Need Your Love and it was released under the label Italian Style. It used a sample from Nayobe It's Too Late.

In April 1991 dance-operators all over the world had to turn their attention to the new release of the hit-single Keep Warm by Jinny. Single sampled vocals from Voices in the Dark's Keep It Warm (with authorization from label New Yorker Next Plateau which owned the rights). Reviewed by the biggest magazines in the field, Jinny was the only Italian artist, apart from the Black Box, that succeeded in entering the glorious American Hot 100 of the Billboard, on the 14th September 1991. An achievement that very few has obtained in the history of Italian dance music. Furthermore, as a very unusual case, Keep Warm was being played by several American radio networks such as Hot 97 N.Y., Kmeljams San Francisco, Power 106 Los Angeles, B96 Chicago, definitely inserting itself at the 13th position of Billboard's Hot Dance and at the 17th position of Billboard's 12 singles-sales.

Jinny was acquired for the entire American territory by Next Plateau, one of the leading independent dance labels of that period and owner on the sample used in the record. The situation in the U.K. was not very different : Keep Warm, licensed by Virgin became successful in the English clubs, quickly reaching the 12th position of the Record Mirror's Club Chart and collecting several reviews on all biggest English headings, Music Week, Echoes, Mix Mag and so on. With the '95 remixes made by Alex Party, T-empo and Blue Peter, Jinny climbed the U.K. sales charts reaching the 11th position. Videoclip was shot starring model and TV-host Carryl Varley.

In 1992 Jinny published the follow-up Never Give Up, performed by Debbie French, as always written and arranged by the trio Cremonini-Gilardi-Varola, as it was for Keep Warm. With the second single of Jinny released on TIME label, Never Give Up entered the U.K. club charts and differently from Keep Warm which was not promoted enough in its home country, it obtained a very good success also in Italy.

Feel The Rhythm was the third single of Jinny which, with the single Open Your mind had entered the top ten dance and sales charts all over Europe.

1994 was a decisive turning point for the artist due to the success reached with One More Time that had rapidly climbed the official Italian sales charts. During that year Jinny released another hit single, Wanna Be With You that entered the Italian charts. This time, it featured the voice of Sandy Chambers.

At the same time in UK under the label Telstar/Multiply remixed versions of the single Keep Warm were released. The remixers were Alex Party and the T-Empo's. this proves to be a winning project ant enters the official UK sales charts, also supported by a good video.

Thanks to the fame reached by Keep Warm, Carryl Varley was considering an offer made by some UK television networks in order to present an important national program.

In her private life, she was said to be dating club DJ Tom Woods after meeting him during the Jinny's clubs tour. The romance lasted about a year before Carryl ended it due to Tom been seen out with Kelly Overett from Cappella.

2004 : Caryl Varley is still working for the UK television. She was spotted on the channels Challenge and NTL Channel.

2009 : Jinny is back. Lyv McQueen performs live in discotheque, singing the project's biggest hits.
