Annerley Gordon biography

Annerley Emma Gordon was born November 12th, 1967 in Sheffield, England. She was fascinated by so many different things, that by the time she was a young adult, she still didn’t know what career was in her future. One fateful day, a trip to Italy changed all that. Looking simply to have a good time for the holidays, some circumstances forced her to stay longer. She then met up with the right people (Theo Spagna, Ken Laszlo...) at the right time. She began singing in a disco and discovered that she not only had a deep desire to sing, but also an incredible talent for it as well. A talent scout on the lookout for new artists spotted her and was instantly captivated by her beautiful voice and youthful energy. She remembers : "I started to do some choral work - the behind the scenes "ooh"-ing and "ahh"-ing - and they liked me because I was English and didn't cost them as much! One day I was asked if I wanted to have a go at recording a song on my own". At that time, the only song she had sung was a cover of Heart Of Glass.

Ken Laszlo introduced her to the Italian producers, and while driving her in his car he expanded her musical culture by playing cassettes on his car radio : she learned a lot through this. As a session singer, she recorded her first Italodance track in 1990. Between 1991 and 1993 she worked for eurobeat label A Beat C. And so began her rise to international stardom : Annerley became one of Italodance most well-kept secrets. She was the voice behind the project Annalise, did some duets with Virginelle, was featured by the Go Go Girls.

She took part offically to the projects Ally & Jo and Ann Lee. But she also stood behind a huge number of SAIFAM (21st Century label) and Riva-Pignagnoli projects such as Whigfield, A Kay BJ, Alex, DJ Space'C (under the name of Anne), Wienna (she also did backing vocals on Little Angela), TH Express (she is the voice of the mega-hit I'm On Your Side and did backing vocals for all the other tracks of the album). She also released many tracks under her own name. She also did backing vocals for Corona (for whom she co-wrote the huge hit The Rhythm Of The Night), Fun Fun, The Smurfs, and Spagna.

Not jaded, she will still list her loves as sun, good food and friends. She admires Mother Theresa and Winnie the pooh. Her favorite films are simply, "all the Disney classics." She’s a fan of all kinds of music, a tell-tale sign of a good musician. If she has to pick favorites ? Meatloaf, Elisa and Barbara Streisand. Who holds the key to her heart? It's a flat-out tie between her boyfriend and her dog.

In 2005, Annerley took a long break from European dance scene. She explains : "I decided to take some time off as I had a baby. I didn't want to give him up to a babysitter or a nanny. He's four now, so I'm ready to start all over again." She not only started creating, writing and singing new music again, but also working as an English teacher in schools.

2015 : Annerley is a member of choir Amiche per la Musica. She still lives in Italy, lives in Cremone region

2019 : she was featured on JoLyMoKa's single Happy Happy Birthday.

2020 : Annerley recorded and released several eurobeat single under Dave Rodgers' label.

2021 : she released a eurobeat album entitled I Am and teamed with The City Never Sleeps to record single Alone. She founded Eurodance Vibes not-for-profit record label with Mark Hoogkamer and Edwin Horeweg. Then came the collective single A Christmas With Love with Dance Legacy.

2022 : she was featured on 2 Samus Jay singles, and on 2 trance collaborations : The Day You Faded Away (with Stargazers) and Alive (with Kaimo K).
