Pamela Fernandez biography

Pamela Fernandez aka Pammy, Pammy F or Pam Fernandez released her first solo single, garage house song You Don't Own Me in 1990. She was background vocalist for hip hop artist Def Jef, contributing to the songs Here We Go Again and Don't Sleep (Open Your Eyes - Theme For The 90's). Then came her second solo single Kickin' In The Beat under label Cutting Records 2 years later and it was pretty succesful.

Then Pamela did a pause and, as she was living in the US, only found out later that her acapella vocals on Kickin' in the Beat was used in various reworks (including Anticappella, Groove Corporation, Isa B, Omnia Tria...), bootlegs (Phats + Small - Turn Around Vs. Kickin' In The Beat in 2000) and a wide range of compilations and albums (Porn Kings on their album Best Of British - The Ultimate Clubbing Experience, the Vengaboys - Up & Down - The Party Album!), making it one of the most sampled and recognizable voices in dance and house music since 1992, although she has never been credited on any of these tracks.

In 1995, she released the single Let's Start Over.

She worked as a vocalist in the Chicago based R&B act Rhythm Class. She has also done the Fashion Fair International Tour. Pamela performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the nation, including the Palladium in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, Brooklyn Academy of Performing Arts, to name a few.

Over the years, she formed and integrated several bands such as Powerplay FYI and Skyline Band. She set up Spicy Jazz Adventure with jazz composer, producer and pianist Thomas Gunther. In this project, they performed their own unique interpretations of old, new and original music.

In 2014 she recorded her own version of Pharrell's hit Happy. She is member of band Rhythm City and created her own jazz group, Pamela's Dreams
