Doug Laurent biography

The German sound mastermind Doug Laurent is a well-known name among eurodance fans all over the world. He is mainly known as a producer who remixed and produced other artists' music. He's most famous remixes are those he made for La Bouche, Culture Beat, BG The Prince Of Rap, Public Art and Pharao, and he has produced almost 300(!) songs up until today. The only track that he has released under his own name is I'm Rushing that came out in 1994. It was re-released in 1998.

Influenced by Frankfurt's electronic music scene and its legendary airport club Dorian Gray, he started deejaying back in 1985. Shown on many occasions behind the turntables, he pushed crowds worldwide to experience a variety of emotions with his progressive but melodic trance style. Doug also established himself as the worldwide renown producer of more than 350 released tracks, represented by over 80 international labels (both major and independents). In 1986, he founded his first digital midi recording studio together with Chris Huelsbeck, who lateron became one of the world's leading game soundtrack composers for titles such as Indiana Jones, Resident Evil and Star Wars.

Risen from the underground, Doug has created hit single productions for Culture Beat (Inside Out, Mr. Vain Recall), La Bouche, Alphaville and Yello which marked his career throughout the last decade.doug as well teamed up for collaborations with Barthezz, BG The Prince Of Rap, Bizarre Inc, Boney M., Fun Factory, Front 242, Hyperlogic, Kim Sanders, Kosmonova, Le Click, LOFT, Love Inc., No Mercy, Panjabi MC, Peyote, Pharao, Raul, Sash!, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Sin With Sebastian, Snap!, Spike, Talla 2XLC, The Twins, Valerie Dore, Zodiac and many others.

After founding the Media Park with its 10 studios in 1992 nearby Frankfurt, the Hypnotic label in 1994 (first release I'm Rushin') and the House of Faith label in 1998, Laurent has been hosting DJs and acts like Angel Of Death, Club Invaders, Deskee, DJ Roy Davis, DJ Wag & Misar, Jay Frog / Scooter, Kai Tracid, Legend B, M@c & Frost, Mikado, Miss Shiva, Miss Thunderpussy, Pro-active, Ramin, Renegade Master, Stevo, Trance Action, Vega, Warmduscher, Yakooza and Y.O.M.C.

Besides going solo, Doug Laurent actually runs the acts Ammonia, De Lorean feat. Nina, Deejane Allstars, Fearsome Foursome, Future Shock, Overdub, Planet Trax, Rainmaker, Recall, Systematics & Taurus. His current 2004 major label projects are German pop stars idol Fabrizio (Universal), former Sweetbox singer Tina Harris (Columbia), Shahin (featured by the Prodigy & Tim Deluxe) and Eastern Europe supergroup Colonia.

Being very successful in creating tribal / garage tracks as well, Doug's label Risque Recordings is the home of all house acts like 54 feat. Lawson, Bizarre, Cary August, Fab, Fantastique, Foundation, Kenne, Hacienda Bros., Jocelyn Brown, La Guardia, Ministry Of Funk, Tania Evans and Thea Austin, alongside productions for Gloria Gaynor, Michael Zager, Michelle Weeks, Nick Straker Band, Sabrina Johnston, Staxx, The Lawyer and Tony di Bart.
