Chorale biography

Chorale is a Finnish eurotrance project built in 2000 by the producers Tero Laihanen (bord February 1981) and Markus Ahola (aka Maka, born January 1980), both from Toijala. None of them had any music education. They started by distributing their music for free through a MP3 portal called Mikseri.net and published their very first album Chromatic. They became one of the most downloaded artists.

Then they got signed to Scandinavian A1 Music at winter 2003. They released their first official single Univiidakko (meaning "The Dream Jungle") in 2004, a collaboration with Joel Kalsi from DCX. Then, the "Scooter of Finland" released their album Unimaailma in 2005 and it entered the local album charts at #15.

Chorale's first singer was Maija-Helena Meskanen (aka Maikku) in 2000, but she performed only one track (Huominen). In 2001 came Hanna-Leena Saarinen (aka Hansku), who sang on their few next songs. In fall 2001 a girl from Tampere offered one of her tunes for them to remix. This is how Lydia Luoma-aho (born December 1977) entered Chorale and Rakkauden Maa was born. Besides Chorale, Lydia also had a solo project called La Masina. In 2006, they also hired a guitarist called Santtu Saarela

2010 : Susannah Suutarinen became the project's new frontlady and vocalist. She is also a songwriter. The same year they competed for the Eurovision Song Contest preselections, but did not win.

2011 : Chorale were back with a new single called Sama Tunne. Santtu Saarela left the project, being replaced by Vesa Urpanen.

2013 : they signed under a new records company : AXR Music Oy

2016 : they released their third album S.K.A.M.A.

2017 : their new single Retroperjantai (from a radio show on Radio Nova which aired on Fridays and played dance music of the 90s) was pretty successful. Then came Christmas single Mielenrauha

2018 : they released the new song Tää Ilta in April. En jää sun luo, recorded with Oku Luukkainen, was inspired from Sash!'s hit Encore Une Fois. Then the song Suomidancee was a collaboration with Movetron singer Päivi Lepistö

2019 : their new single was called Lomalla

2020 : this was quite a busy year for Chorale, with not less than 4 new singles : Kaamoksen Kansa, Osa Maailmaas, Minä and Jos Joulu Jää Sydämeen. Markus and Susanna got engaged

2021 : they dropped 3 new singles : Heart Is Waiting, Koeajo and Pikkuveljen joulupuuro

2022 : Chorale's new single is a collaboration with Poju entitled Kippaamaan
