Calabash biography

Rapper and songwriter Daniel Osafo Oware aka Attagoe Calabash or Spike Dog was born in Ghana in April 19th 1965, then moved to Poland. His songs were released on Omega Music compilations only : Shake Your Bom Bom, Love Song, Viva Gołota, Jumbo Africa, Dance To The Music and probably the most well-known Crazy Little Walker. He wrote lyrics on Baby Dance Show Me Way.

He also appeared on Top One's album Freedom, replacing Mr Ghana. With them, he recorded the song Ole Olek! in 1995 as part of Aleksander Kwaśniewski's election campaign.

In 1999, he performed raps in swahili on Chinese Wall, one track of the rock band Big Cyc's album All Saints. Under the alias Spike Dog, he appeared during several of their concerts.

He was a frequent guest on the program "Europa da się lubić", and hosted the program "Kulinarne safari" on Polsat Play. As an actor, he appeared in the series "Dziki" and "Bao-Bab, Czyli zielono mi".

Daniel was a member of the program board of Afryka Inaczej Foundation, promoting Polish-African intercultural dialogue.

He died from drowning in Egypt on August 25th 2015
