Jackie Bodimead biography
Singer Jacqueline "Jackie" Bodimead was born in London (UK) on November 13th 1962. She started singing at the age of 6 in her school choir, then learned how to playthe recorder and the violin. She was member of several rock girls band : starting with Canis Major (with her brother Tony Bodimead). The band recorded their first single as she was only 13. Then they got signed to Gem Records and recorded an album, Butterfly Queen Later she became a member of She and Strategy. Then she followed the guitarist Cris Bonacci to become the leadsinger of rock/metal Girlschool between 1985 and 1986. They toured in the UK and abroad, then Jackie decided to leave, as she was no longer interested in this kind of music.
She then joined the Album-oriented rock band If Only, released the single If Love Could Last Forever, and recorded an album called Destiny (which does not seem to have been released before 2004). She also contributed to Future Games's single 'Wanderlust. Then she went solo, releasing in 1993 one album entitled Don't Believe In Love (produced by Lea Hart). She also contributed to backing vocals on English Steel's album Start 'Em Young.
She started working as a session vocalist in London in 1994. She noticed an ad in The Stage, a British weekly newspaper, and sent her demos. Even if it was far from rock, Jackie was really impressed with the SAIFAM sound and wanted to be involved. She worked as a session vocalist with SAIFAM for 5 years, from 1995 to 2000 and keeps very good memories of them, even if she was not allow to contribute to composing or songwriting. She did not actually live in Verona : she took a plane, worked in the studio for a weekend, then returned to the UK.
She was credited as background vocalist on DJ Miko's album Last Millenium (her name was mistyped Jack Bodymead or Jackie Bodymeas according to editions). But she did more than background vocals, as she sung on many TH Express, Radiorama, Wienna, Housecream, Killer Shadows, Maharadsha, Texture, Pump Sisters, Maresca, Patty Dart, DJ Space'C, Alisha, Greta and DJ Miko singles. Even if she was never credited for this...
2001 : she did background vocals on Denny Laine's album Reborn.
2010 : she was featured on Who Do You Run To one song of Moritz' album Undivided.
2011 : several of her songs (such as Each Night, On The Line, One Love) were featured on the compilation Voices Of British Heavy Metal
She studied veterinary nursing, then went to university to study ecology and conservation, and worked as an ecologist. Nowadays, she works as a senior technician at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.
2024 : she recorded 2 eurodance songs for the label Eurodance Vibes
