Stefan Benz biography

Stephan Benz was born in Hamburg (Germany). He learned playing the drums at the age of 11. He played in high school bands and in the school orchestra. On day, his dad brought his a Casio synthetizer from one of his trips in Japan. Stefan spent his nights learning how to use this fabulous toy. As he was only 19, he negociated a loan at the bank to buy himself everything he needed to become a composer and producer. He did studies at Carl-Schurz-Schule and Akademie für Marketing-Kommunikation in Frankfurt. He met Uli Brenner who deejayed at the mythic club Dorian Gray, then Rolf Ellmer aka Jam El Mar. Together, they started producing tracks.

He was A&R / manager at CBS between 1988 and 1992, then founded label Dance Pool at Sony Music Germany and became Label Manager there. He then co-created Allstar Music Productions GmbH. He was producer of BG the Prince of Rap (in collaboration with Jam El Mar), 2 Alive, Arena, Storm and DJ Company (with Paul Strand and Louis Lasky).

2002 : he left Allstar Music Productions to found Medialand GmbH. He manages label Tricky Tracks (a division of Medialand).
