To celebrate the release of the 23rd movie of the James Bond series, here is a collection of songs around the spies theme to play while you drive away in your Aston Martin. You'll also find a few cover of famous James Bond themes. Actually, only the 6 first ones are classic eurodance, since it was pretty hard to find 10 of them sticking so closely to the theme.

Motiv8

Searching For The Golden Eye  LISTEN

Featuring dance diva Kym Mazelle, probably the best Motiv8 song. It was released the same year as James Bond's Goldeneye movie. And this masterpiece would really have deserved to belong to the original soundtrack. Synths create a mysterious Bond atmosphere, and Kym's vocals are just breathtaking. A pure eurodance gem ! A videoclip exists, but it is a real rarity.
Searching For The Golden Eye was covered by project Blue Dream.
In May 2005 Kym released under her own name the 2005 remixes Motiv8's Searching For The Golden Eye

Mata Hari

Spy In The Name Of Love  LISTEN

Spy In The Name Of Love is a romanced version of famous spy Mata Hari's history. During World War I, exotic dancer and courtesan Margaretha Geertruida Zelle aka Mata Hari was accused of being a double agent and was executed by France under charges of espionage for Germany. Spy In The Name Of Love was written by Z. Robinson, Wilde and Sinclair, it featured vocals by Brenda Hale.

Joan and John

James !  LISTEN

This one is obviously about the famous English spy. The single charted in France in Hit des Clubs SkyRock, and a remixes vinyl was released. French project Joan & John featured an uncredited duet made of a rapper and a female vocalist, who also contributed to project The Flex. "You can call me, you can call me James".

Mr President

FBI from album Space Gate  LISTEN

FBI was a very nice eurodance track from Mr President's 4th studio album Space Gate. It was never released as a single. What is quite funny in this song, is that visibly the lyricist confused FBI and MI6. References to James Bond are quite obvious, however : "secret agent", "You gotta get Dr No", "He's the man with the silver gun" (even if in James Bond movies series, the gun is rather golden)...

Captain Jack

Secret Agent from album Operation Dance  LISTEN

Taken from Captain Jack's second album Operation Dance, Secret Agent was never released as a single. However, 2 versions exist on the album : 007 Radio Mix and In Da Bass Mix. Melody of 007 Radio Mix (my favourite version) reminds a bit of classic James Bond movie themes. Captain Jack "are here To save the world again. We are secret agents on tour again"...

Toy-Box

007 from album Toy Ride  LISTEN

James Bond legend also inspired bubble gum projects. Taken from their second album Toy Ride released in 2001, this is a bouncy and happy track, which deals with the subject with distance and humor. On her Majesty's secret service, Amir seems to enjoy playing the part of 007 while Aneela replies, with her high-pitched sweet little voice, "Take me to heaven Mister 007". "Take me to heaven Mister 007".

White Widow

Spy  LISTEN

This eurotrance song was White Widow's third single. It was written by Alex D'Hondt, Keith Burton and Wim Perdaen, and featured vocals by Lien Degreef (who also write the lyrics), more well-known as Lady Linn. It's not really about James Bond or his collegues, rather about a jealous girl who spies on her lover. Single did not have any success, and after this, project did a pause of 6 years before releasing a new single.

Rozalla

Diamonds Are Forever  LISTEN

This track was recorded by Rozalla specially for the compilation album Forever Bond (first released in 2009 under Klone records, then more recently re-issued by Almighty records). This a cover of 7th James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever main theme, originally performed by Shirley Bassey. Not really eurodance, rather electro-house.

4 Non Bonds

Never Say Bond  LISTEN

This was the only single released by Italian project 4 Non Bonds, and it was rather a makina/hard trance track. It was based on James Bond main theme, and included some voice samples as well. Single included 4 mixes with evocative names : Thunderball Mix, Goldfinger Mix, Jungle Ball Mix and For Your Eyes Mix and it was released under label DJ Movement.
