THE INTERVIEW
by KDJ
US-based eurodance rapper, songwriter and professional stage dancer Michael Priestas aka ZoOom contributed to projects Eurotronic and Double Pulse. 2022 was a very hectic year for him, seeing him releasing many singles : mostly original tracks and a few reworks as well, but also some collaborations with well-known eurodance voices from the 90s (Lori Glori, LOFT, Annerley Gordon)

Hello I am Michael Priestas Aka Ya-boy ZoOoM, born and raised in Lorain Ohio, Dance music Rapper/Mc Entrepreneur, Extraordinaire
I chose my stage name ZoOoM because, I drive fast cars and live life in the fast lane, I chose ZoOoM with 3 O's to stand out and be different.
I learned how to rap From a shorty. I grew up break dancing in my neighborhood to dance music and rap music, always hit the block with my boom box and rap music, playing so after years of listening to different styles. When it became my time to flow on the mic it was a cake walk…I never took any musical studies, all self taught.
I first entered into the music business in 2012.
I first discovered eurodance in my teenage years in early 90's, when many dance spots started opening up and the arcade halls having dance club nights all around, where I participated in a dance group called XTC-Posse where we dance battled other dance groups to eurodance and Hip-House music.
The image of Eurodance from the 90's till now has faded dramatically in todays times. Nowadays though the technology has improved and times are changing and new generations evolving liking the new styles of eurodance. Back in the days the times were so different and limited technology that it was amazing for back them, just like a 1990's Corvette, but now take that corvette and look at todays design and technology and the 2022 Corvette blows the doors off the old school Corvette 😎😁 . The same goes for the Eurodance music from then till now.
Of course my favorite style of music is Eurodance. I must say I am not moved by any other projects, but Eurotronic and Double Pulse for me it's the two most amazing musical experiences I have ever listened to. In my private time, lol, I listen to ZoOoM songs haha I do this because I have so many songs that it never hurts to know every song 1000% so when you hit the stage you know your music. Believe it or not I have seen artists on stage forget their music while performing.
My dearest experience in my musical career thus far is the Eurotronic experience, it made me who I am today.
The creation and recording process of my songs is a very cool experience. For example I have created and found my group Double Pulse. The very first song we did was Take it to the Top. It starts with a instrumental given to me, then I sit in bed with my Beats headphones and think of a topic. Then my raps start to emerge, this song is important to me because it show strength to never give up and don't let anything stop you from reaching your dreams.
My favorite Eurodance artists are, WOW so many, but if I had to list a few here they are, AK-Swift, B.G, Annerley Gordon, Lori Glori, Loft, Sandy Chambers and Corona.
I never did any song writing apart from my own songs.
I first met Krasi when my Party in Here Hit single was given to DMN Records for remix and released in Germany and hit the top 10 chart of the Swiss Dance Charts. He then reached out to me saying he loved my style and asked me to feature on the song Baby I Dont Care by Corona. He then asked if I would love to be in his new eurodance project Eurotronic, (it was his dream to have his own Eurodance band). From there we became best friends and he became my manager and Brother, he is the reason I am here in Eurodance and I miss him so much. Every single day I do what I do for Krasi. We talked so much about we can't wait to have a beer with each other and get on stage and he throw out T-shirts while people scream ZoOoM.
I accept all critics and what they say as everyone is entitled to their opinions. I respect everyone and of course they have influences on my work. Some critics said I need to try Ragga Rapping, so I tried some in my single remake In my Dreams and must say very cool song I also remade Maxx Get Away and I love the outcome.
I would love to work with Corona performing Baby I Don't Care on stage some day, and eventually work with all the major stars from the 90's is my goal.
Oh wow thank you for that I appreciate that, you know my father was in a band and played guitar and was a singer when I was young growing up, but my passion is rap I have a unique style that I have developed on my own and am in love with, some say it's a style of rap and singing in one.
My future projects are a new single with Annerley Gordon, new single with Courtney D, Rosalina and Richy from Loft, and new song from Lori Glori, also making a last and final new Eurotronic 2 album and releasing First Double Pulse album..and hopefully more Eurodance projects with more big names.
Yes hopefully soon I'll be touring with International Artists, (it's one of Krasi's dream for me to be on stage) I prepare every day by listening to all my songs and performances in the mirror and fresh weight lifting works every day, I'm not sure which songs I'll be performing but will love to perform them all.
I love my song Rock Da House (Harder) and Take it to the Top but realistically I love them all.
What I think about todays music industry is it's Shit without Dance music, Nothing can touch your soul and move your body like Eurodance, There is nothing better than a dope Eurodance beat and amazing female vocalist with amazing rapper side by side.
The best thing that has ever happened in my life is marrying my amazing, beautiful wife Michelle and having our amazing children Lucas and Liana.
I hate the most when someone mistakes my kindness as a sign of weakness.
Unbreakable, caring, competitive
My message to my fans is I cannot wait to hit the stage and meet you all, when you come to see ZoOoM on stage be prepared for someone to leave with a piece of my clothing…I love you all Booom…Ya-boy Zooom
Thank you Karine Sanche and of course Thank you Krasi Krastev...
