Surama K biography
Surama de Castro (heaven knows where the K came from) is Brazilian from Maranhão. She moved to USA trying to succeed professionally there, like many Brazilians do, working as fashion model and actress. It was while modeling in Italian that she met the chairman of Warner Music Italy, that liked her and introduced Surama to the producer Antonio Summa.
Antonio Summa decided to produce her, and her debut song was Save Up All Your Tears (cover to Bonnie Tyler, also covered by Cher and Robin Beck), that was recorded with Surama's voice plus two backing vocalists (and that's why its vocals sound different from the other tracks of the album). This song flopped in Italy, and the production team gave it up. The song started playing in Brazil in 1996, and soon became a hit. Unfortunatelly, her producer licensed the song to two different labels, Paradoxx and Fieldzz, what's not correct in the musical business. Both labels only realized what happened after their compilations were out. Anyway, both asked him for a new song to put in their compilations, and that's how Remember came out, between a lot of controversial because the producer did it again...
The fought with the producer continued, when Fieldzz got exclusivity for the forthcoming album of Surama, and released the third single I Want You Into My Life.
Surama K.'s debut album Yesterday & Today started with a cover version to My Heart Will Go On is nasty. The second song was I Want You Into My Life, followed by Remember. The album version of Save Up All Your Tears sounded a little bit different from the single. Besides the singles, the album has also some surprises, like the euro tracks Breathe, Hedonism (both covers to rock songs) and Together (released in 1995 by Carin McDonald). The other tracks were reggae or a style of music reminding of Gala ... It was exclusively released in Brazil.
2003 : Surama was back with a single in French entitled Donne Moi L'Amour under Universal Italy.
2004 : she released single Mania De Você that she produced herself
