Statikk biographyHis real name is Eric Svensson or Erik S. When he first heard Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, this was to him like a cultural collision, an instant ethnic amalgamation from the streets of Sundsvall, Sweden to the beats of Brooklyn, New York, Eric S makes tracks that combine rough-edged rhythms with slick vocals. Eric says, "I listen to house music because it is a true universal language. I hear music being made in Finland and Italy that is just as good as in the States." Eric S is an experienced studio owner, producer, re-mixer and performer (having been a member of the first techno group in Sweden, Cyborg) with over 10 years of professional experience in the music business. He has already made over 60 singles and 10 full length CD's. Producer of Melodie MC, West Inc and N'Y'Thing, he also remixed many tracks of other artists such as Cool James & Black Teacher. 2005 : "I would describe my sound as rough. I like it when a track is tough sounding with a slick melody and vocals on top". This becomes clear when you listen to the debut single Alright. An energetic 4/4 beat with a soulful, uplifting vocal by Adam Baptiste (aka ADL). ADL is also known from the group Blacknuss All Stars and the voice behind the classical New York underground hip hop anthem Daddy (produced by Christian Falk and supported to death by no one less than Funkmaster Flex). For the record, Alright spent 12 weeks on the Swedish Dance Chart, climbed to the top 5 position on the Prime Cuts list and got plenty of plays on national radio channel P3. It featured remixes from Håkan Lidbo and Jori Hulkkonen. Think Kerri Chandler-meets-Daft Punk, add some Basement Jaxx and Masters At Work and you got the style and funk behind the work of Eric S. "I have always listened to house music. In the foundations of my music,
I try to combine the swing of soul with heavy house rhythms based on the tradition
of "Silk" Hurley", The new release is the 80's Disco/Soul influenced 12" I Like (The Things You Do), once again with Adam Baptiste aka ADL on vocals. Like no one before it really brings back the days of D'Train, Shalamar and the early Flyte Tyme and Solar releases.
