Ingrid Simons biography

Ingrid, one of Holland's most sought after session singers, was born on the 17th November 1963 in Paramaribo (Surinam). Ingrid began singing at age 8. After junior high, she participated in her first song contest and took 1st place. She is also known as BB Queen (after Blues-legend B.B.King)

She has an extensive gold mine of experience behind her, after recording and performing with a wide variety of artists from CB Milton (on If You Leave Me Now), T-spoon (on their 2 very first hits), Gordon, the Supremes, and she can even be heard on the latest 2 Unlimited album II. She took part to the dance act called Slammer, this band being produced by The Klubbheads. Do You Wanna Funk was a typical dutch house record, but there came No Return of Slammer.

In 1996, Ingrid was backing singer for the Netherlands Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2000 she formed the discogroup Ebonique with the vocalists Mieke de Jongh and Caroline Dest. With the single So Much Love the joined the national song festival and got #2. After this Ebonique went further.

2002 : Ingrid was among the the 'Ladies' who accompanied Sergio in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest for Belgium.

She did a duet with Elvira Valentine called Say When. She also took part to the band Jody's Singers.

2004 : Ingrid played a role in the movie Michael Blanco. She also sung backing volcas on Dana Winner's Stand Van De Maan.

2006 : she did backing vocals for Raffaëla's single Right Here Right Now and on Toppers' album Kerst Met De Toppers

2007 : she was among the choir featured on Erik Hulzebosch's album Zwart IJs. She did backing vocals on some tracks on VanVelzen's album Unwind, of André Hazes' album Samen Met Dré, on Gerard Joling - Maak Me Gek, on Dennis' album Her Name Is Dennis, on Belle Perez's album Gotitas De Amor

2008 : she did backing vocals on several Kate Ryan tracks. She also visited a track on Marco Borsato's album Wit Licht.

2009 : her daughter Eva Simons scored a huge hit with the single Silly Boy. Ingrid did additional backing vocals on VanVelzen's album Take Me In & Hear Me Out and on Danny de Munk's album Hart En Ziel.

2010 : she did backing vocals on the album Jurk!'s album Avondjurk and co-wrote Afrojack's single Take Over Control featuring her daughter Eva.
