Gabry Ponte biographyGabry was born in Torino, Italy, the 20th of April, 1973. He started DJing at the end of 17. He is best known as the DJ of top Italian Dance band Eiffel 65, after working on eurodance projects such as Da Blitz, Bliss Team, Vandana, Sangwara, Blyzart. But he has no doubt shown in the last few years, that he was also a very successful solo dance artist as well. His first solo attempt Got To Get (Don Don) released in 2001 reached #21 in the Musica & Dischi charts, and in February 2002, it climbed to it's highest position at #3 in the official Deejay Parade charts. But nothing could prepare the Italian Dance scene for his next release. Time To Rock was Gabry's most successful single on the dance charts at the time, peaking at #1 on the Deejay Parade charts, and holding that place for 3 weeks. His success than skyrocketed. With his 3rd single release Geordie, a cover of the track written by Fabrizio De Andre, Gabry had his biggest success in the dance charts. Geordie entered the Deejay Parade charts at no4, and when it reached the top spot, it held on to it for 6 weeks. Making it one of the most successful tracks of 2002. This track was also the first track for Gabry Ponte which made the Top 10 in the official FIMI charts. Gabry Ponte followed this single with De Musica Tonante, originally written by Paolo Mantera. The Gabry Ponte version was also very successful on the radio waves, entering the official FIMI charts at no13 in its first week. Gabry also found the time to collaborate with Mario Fargetta in 2002, as they released their version of the 1970's classic Music as written by John Miles. The single featured Carl Fanini, more famous for his contribution to Clubhouse. It was around this time, that Gabry Ponte was signed up by RADIO DEEJAY to be one of their weekly regular DJs, and was given his own 1hour show every saturday night to spin his favourite dance records. In late 2002, Gabry released his first album, entitled Gabry Ponte, the album featured his 4 previously released singles, and also featured his 5th single, The Man In The Moon. This track was played a lot on the radio airwaves, but the remixed version, as made by Roberto Molianro was even more played in the Italian Clubs. Gabry Ponte returned in november 2003 with his new single La Danza Delle Streghe. This track was released in time for Halloween, and with it's spooky lyrics, great sound effects, and pounding bass and synths, this song also reached the top 10 in both the FIMI and the Musica & Dischi charts. This song also managed to hold the Deejay Parade top spot for 4 weeks. In 2004, Gabry released his second album Dr. Jackyll and Mr. DJ and his 7th single, a cover of Eiffel 65's own track entitled Figli Di Pitagora. Gabry enlisted the help of Italian vocalist Little Tony for this track, and this one also managed to take the top spot in the Deejay Parade charts for 2 weeks. Just after the single release, Gabry released his 2nd album entitled Dr Jekyll & Mr DJ, which outsold his first album. Gabry had also had major success remixing. In 2003 he remixed the DJ Lhasa track Giulia, and this remixed track also managed to stay on the top of the Deejay Parade charts for 2 weeks. But his biggest remix success came in 2004, when he remixed the track Dragostea Din Tei by Haiducii, and the remix landed the top spot in the Deejay Parade charts and stayed there for 8 weeks in a row. But even better, the CD single featuring the Gabry Ponte remix went to no1 in both the official FIMI and Musica & Dischi charts. 2006 : Gabry Ponte left Eiffel 65. His project Karmah entered the charts all over Europe with their hit single Just Be Good To Me, even reaching the top of the charts in some countries. Also the second single Tom’s Dinner, as well as the album turned out to be very successful 2007 : Gabry’s radio program becomes a daily one – Gabry2o, from Monday till Friday at 6pm 2008 : in August, he released Badabum Cha Cha with Dj Paki under the project name Marracash. Then, at the end of the year, he released La Chitarra Delle Streghe (a cover of Danza Delle Streghe). With Dj Paki, he also remixed Roberto Molinaro's Concept of Ameno. 2009 : he released his new album Gabry 2o Vol II. This album contains his latest single Ocean Whispers (with the popular sax melody reminding of Guru Josh's Infinity), a remix of Blue (Da Ba Dee) and his version of 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor's hit Dreams... as well as a bonus DVD. 2010 : Gabry with Elroy Powell aka SpoonFace released a new song called Love 2 Party on August 30th.
