Michael Muenzing biography

DJ, producer and songwriter, Michael Münzing comes from Frankfurt (Germany). The first record he bought as he was 11 a record from Elvis. Then he became a Beatles fan. He had to spend 2-3 years at his grandparents with his brother, because his mum was very sick at this time, and his granddad did not really enjoy his musical tastes.

He travelled to New York in the 70s, as he was 24. Thanks to a friend of his, he could get into the mythic Studio 54 and was really impressed. Then he went to Tel Aviv to meet a friend who owned a piano bar, and suggested him to turn into a club. This was the very first club to be opened in the city, inspired from what Michael saw in Studio 54, and it was very successful. He had his first DJ experience there. After the first terrorist attacks, he sold his shares and went back to Germany, just when the Dorian Gray opened in Francfort airport. He started going there every day, became one of the DJs in 1982. He met Luca Anzilotti, who was DJing in smaller clubs. They had the dream of creating a radio station together. Meanwhile, Michael started buying some music equipment, composing music with Luca and experimeneting on the dancefloor. In 1986, the 2 DJs started hanging around with Sven Väth.

With Luca and Sven, he founded synth-pop project OFF (Organisation For Fun) in 1985, releasing singles Bad News and Electrica Salsa. Then Michael was offered a new residency in the newly opened club Music Hall. Then he decided to become a full-time music producer, and founded his first recording studio, on the first floor of an office building in Offenbach. Sometimes, their neighbors begged them to turn the music down, so they took the habit to work at night. Later, they found out that some fans of their music went to the parking space nearby just to listen to the sound of their works

He released the single Visions And Dreams under the name Curare. In the trail of this OFF's success, Luca, Michael and Sven founded a second one called 16 Bit in 1986. Their single Where Are You? was Top 20 in Germany and France, Changing Minds in Germany too. An album with the strange name Inaxycvgtgb followed.

In 1987, Luca and Michael produced Rico Sparx feat. Moses P. Ay Ay Ay (What We Do For Love). The following years, with Rico Sparx , they produced several Moses P singles (Twilight Zone, Raining Rhymes, Can This Be Love). In 1988, Luca and Michael felt it was time for a new sound : Acid-house. They bought the club Vogue, located in a former parking, renewed it totally, and renamed in Omen. This was a good way to test and improve their new creations on the clubbers. In 1989, Luca and Michael took part to project Trust Unlimited (with Dieter Kolb).

In 1989 too, Michael took the alias Benito Benites, and founded the project Snap, still with Luca Anzilotti (who became John Virgo Garrett III). They settled down their recording studio on the first floor of an office building in Kaiserlei, producing their music under the label name Logic records. The Power was an international hit.

Luca and Michael also did remixes for many artists, including Whitney Houston, The Human League and New Order.

At the end of the 90s, they founded the company in-motion AG, which went bankrupcy in 2006.

He still lives in Frankfurt. His girlfriend is the model Fel Cassieli.
