Livin' Joy biography

Vocals and lyrics : Tameko Star
Composers and producers : Paulo and Gianni Visnadi

Paulo and Gianni Visnadi were working in England as dance music composers. They stood behind the project Alex Party. They started the project Livin' Joy in 1993 with Janice Robinson as female vocalist. Their first single was entitled Dreamer. The composers gave Janice a cassette with the piano melody on it, she inserted it into her Sony Walkman, and she wrote the song while travelling on a train to Venezia (Italy) with Gigi, her room mate. Dreamer was so successful that it was re-released in 1995. It was was #28 in Israel, #18 in the UK in it's first release and #1 there after the second release.

Then Janice left the group. The Visnadi bros. met Tameka Starr in Liverpool in 1994. When Tameka's soulful lyrics and the Visnadi bros. up tempo beats mixed, the hits started coming. Don't Stop Movin' was perfect for a follow up single, it was a worldwide hit in the second half of 1996. It reached #5 in UK, #1 in Italy, # 6 in Israel, and #3 in Australia. It sold a total of 2 million copies worldwide. Tameka also contribued to the songwriting and to the group's choreographies.

Singles to follow were Follow The Rules (# 8 in Israel, # 8 in the UK), Where Can I Find Love (# 9 in Israel, # 12 in the UK), Deep In You (which also contained a Megamix). Then the debut album Don't Stop Movin'. was released, it contained a secret song which was Dreamer (sung by Janice Robinson). It reached #41 in UK.

Livin' Joy were pretty quiet in 1998, but made a huge comeback in 1999 with the release of the new single Just For The Sex Of It. This up-tempo infectious dance song became a club anthem announcing a second album also entitled Just For The Sex Of It, which was finally never released.

2008 : tracks from the cancelled second album were leaked online and they included Love Yourself, Lookin' Fine, I Only Wanna Dance, U R My Livin' Joy, You Don't Love Me, and Bump This.

2009 : Niels Van Gogh covered Livin' Joy's hit Dreamer.

2019 : a singer called Luzahnn Taylor started performing on the stages of 90s festivals and concerts under the name Livin' Joy. Luzahnn has previously appeared in musicals (Chicago, The Lion King, 42nd Street, The Producers and Spamalot) and also appeared in the blockbuster "Alexander the Great" starring Collin Farrell and Oliver Stone. But... She never had the right to use the project's name ! Janice and Tameko were and remained the only singers associated to the legacy of Livin’ Joy.

2022 : Tameko and Janice revealed their plans for a musical comeback, and maybe also a duet. They also condemned the fact that Luzahnn kept on touring, lipsyncing over Livin' Joy's songs.
