JC Culture biography

JC Culture was formed by brother and sister, rapper Nicos and vocalist Aliki Vouris, based in Cape Town (South Africa). Nicos and Aliki have Greek origins. They grew up on the slopes of Table Mountain, Nicos began his music career playing the drums in his local church, which he and his sister Aliki attended

Like projects such as G-Powered, DJC or Normal Generation?, their music is religious-oriented (JC stands for Jesus-Christ).

Their self-titled debut CD was released in South Africa and The Netherlands under Sarepta Music. The duo was invited to Holland to perform at various dance festivals, such as the Flevo Totaal and the Rotterdam Dance Music Festivals where Nicos, Aliki and their dancers performed to a crowd of over 30 000 people.

Album Never Alone followed in 1998, than came Magnetik in 2000. They toured to Australia, New Zealand and Europe, performing to massive crowds 8 months of the year. JC Culture was also nominated for "Best Contemporary Dance" album at the 2000 SAMA Awards held at the Sun City Super bowl.

In 2004, Nicos released a dance remix of a South African classic "Man on the Moon" originally done by 80's group BallyHoo, under group name Magnetik. In the same year Nicos V collaborated with Redd-Angel on a dance track called Get Loose.

2009 : Nicos and Aliki released a new single titled In the Movies.
