Gloria biographyGloria (Глория) was born Galina Ivanova Peneva in Ruse on 28th of July 1973. She showed an interest in singer from a very early age. After her parents' divorce, her and her brother Nikolai moved to Dve Mogili, where their grandparents took care of them. Gloria graduated from the Agricultural Technical School there. She started singing in Izvor Orchestra at the age of 17, after being spotted during her performance at the wedding celebration of her cousin. They did a successful tour in Serbia in 1991. After two years, they split. Gloria founded her own group, called Lyra, which lasted only 5 months. Then, she started singing in the best variety-bars and nightclubs in the country, managed by impresario Kapka Petkova. Her repertoire consisted of the songs of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and other famous singers. "It was a wonderful period of my life, Gloria says, but extremely exhausting, every month I was in different town, I was bored from singing somebody else's songs, I wanted to produce my own ones". In 1993, in Kardjali, she met her future husband Ilia Zagorov, who would compose some of Gloria's biggest hits, such as Nostalgia, 100% zhena, Sbogom adios, Ne ostariavai mamo, Tsigansko sartse. With the money she had earned, Gloria recorded her first songs in Maxim Goranov's studio in Pleven. The day she met Toni Dacheva, who gave her advice, became a turning point in her career and life, and she changed the original conception of the album's music style. Released on November 1994, this album was very different from the popular songs on the moment. She met her future producers Maria and Mitko Dimitrovi – the owners of Payner Studio, at the Night Bar in the Interhotel of Veliko Tarnovo. "That moment started all my successes. I produced my first album Shtastieto e magia (Happiness is magic) and it happened to be one of the most succesful on the Bulgarian musical market. The sold numbers of copies overpassed all my anticipations, as well as those of my publishers and producers".
