Mauro Farina biographyChairman of the SAIFAM Publishing Group, Farina is one of the dance music producers with more credibility in the club world. Born 41 years ago in Milan, Italy, Mauro began playing the guitar when aged only 8 years old and founding his first band at 12 years of age, before becoming a studio singer in 1972. He liked old pop groups like Beatles, Rolling Stones, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young but the artists that changed his taste were Patrick Cowley and Bobby Orlando. Mauro produced his first track in 1975 for an Italian Major. The record did not sell well, but he then decided that his life had to be lived only for the music. Later, he started to produce pop music for many Italian labels like a freelance. In the wonderful world of Hi-NRG Italo-dance music, writer/producer/singer Mauro (Mark) Farina outshines them all. He started writing music in 1980. We began hearing the incredible creations of this mega-talented man with songs like Cha Cha Cha, (So, So, So) So Long, or To My Heart. Since then, he has not stopped churning out the hits for many other Italo-dance artists as well, including people like Wildside, Radiorama, and Ken Laszlo. He founded Time Records in 1983 with Giuliano Crivellente and Giacomo Maiolini. Then Giuliano and Mauro left Time Records, but they kept a friendly relationship with Giacomo. Factory Team, consisting of Mauro, Giuliano Crivellente, Fabio Serra and Johnny Di Martino (aka Johnny Mix) started working together in 1986, at SAIFAM’s studios in Verona, a small town in Northern Italy 1997 finds Mauro Farina the 'boss' at his own music publishing group. An impressive amount of other record labels are held comfortably under S.A.I.F.A.M.'s umbrella, including the stupendous 21st Century and One Way Records (both labels responsible for a plethora of Hi-NRG hits over the past four years or so). Also, the amount of product S.A.I.F.A.M. releases monthly is second to none ! For not only is the quantity of music released astounding, but also the quality ! 'I personally love Hi-nrg more than other styles! Anyway I like to be up-dated on every kind of music' he says. 'I am creative, this means that when I play a guitar, or when I drive my car, or even when I play tennis or go jogging, I think about music and my brain can't stop thinking about melodies, arrangements etc. I consider me a 'lucky man' because every part of me talks about music!!! Normally, I give all my ideas and material to my producers-team (I strictly work with Factory Team & F. Turatti) than elaborate them in our studios! In this way I can work simultaneously on two or three songs!!! Let me tell you that we are a very well organised working-team and the merit of our success must be divided between all of our teams!!! Without musicians like Turatti, Johnny Mix, F. Serra, A.Bindi, R. Arduini, A. Puntillo and others, S.A.I.F.A.M. could not exist' he explains. The music of Mauro Farina (and Factory Team, a group of other highly talented Italo-dance producers) has found immense commercial success in popular world Hi-NRG markets like Southeast Asia, Japan, and Brazil... He is now taking direct aim at the United States of America. The years 1997/98 see the US market for Euro and Hi-NRG continuing to grow. When he does not work on music, he likes to play sports. He plays tennis everyday and participates in tournaments. In his house he has his private gymnasium where he spends some time exercising, and other times he runs or swims. He also reads a lot of books. His days are very long because he wakes up early 6.45 am -7.00 am) and goes to bed very late (1.00 am-1.30 am).
