Chipz biography

Label :GlamSlam Netherlands. In 2003, four young talents met each other during the auditions for a new popgroup. Even before they were in the last round, Rach-L (Rachel van Hoogen, born 27th November 1983), Peter Rost (born 19th April 1984), Kevin Hellenbrand (born 14th February 1985) and C!lla Niekoop (born 11th Dezember 1985) could get on together really well. The project was called Chipz (sometimes written CH!PZ).

Chipz In Black, their debut single, written by Hartmann & Langhoff (from Aqua and A-teens), was released in 2003 in the Netherlands. It entered all charts (Mega Top 100, TOTP-Chart, Pepsi Chart, Kids Top 20 ) and sold Platinum. The follow-up was entitled Cowboy, and it entered the NL charts directly at #1.

In 2004 their first album was released. It gathered the talents of producers and songwriters such as the Danish Hartmann & Langhoff), the Swedish team Scandinavia (Westlife, Samantha Mumba) and the Danish Cryptonite Productions (Toy-Box). It went #2 in the NL album charts.

In 2005 Chipz In Black was finally released in Germany where it became a huge hit. Then came Cowboy, also massively succesful : #1 in Germany and Austria, #2 in Switzerland.

2006 : Chipz released their new single Gangstertown in their homeland. Meanwhile, they released Carnival the follow-up to 1001 Arabian Nights in German and Austria. 2006 was also the year for them to enter the Swedish market : Chipz In Black, then more recently Cowboy, did their entry in the Swedish charts.

June : Chipz released a mini-album entitled Past Present Future part 1. The video of their new single Waikiki Beach (which was shot in Portugal) was released on the 24th June, but the single itself was never released officially.

In late September, their latest single One Day When I Grow Up was released. The single entered the Dutch charts at #29 and climbed twenty-two places up to peak at #7. A second EP, Past:Present:Future (Part 2), was released in November 2006. Then came Christmas Time Is Here.

2007 : after conquering Germany, Chipz's next carreer plan aimed at the UK. Cowboy was released in the United Kingdom on February 12th 2007 and went #40 there, Ch!pz in Black should follow.

A new single called Studio 54 was recorded and a best of called The H!tz Collection released in May.

In December, Chipz! performed their song Make A Big Splash for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest opening. The song was composed especially for the contest.

2008 : from February, Chipz present a TV program called CH!PZ Dance Xper!enz on the Dutch TV channel Tros. In September, they released their new album called CDX.

2009 : the band broke up, cancelling plans for their next album The New Adventures of Ch!pz.

2010 : Kevin released 2 solo singles : Good Times and Set Me On Fire

2012 : Peter competed in Holland's Got Talent.
