Dorretta Carter biography

Dorretta Carter was born in London on June 30th. Her parents were Jamaican and she has 6 sisters and brothers. Music always played an important role in her life. Later, she moved to Austria. She did vocals on Hans Theessink's blues album Johnny & The Devil in 1989. Then she recorded song My Baby (He Don't Care) for project Q-Beat Inc in 1991. She contributed to Etta Scollo's album Soul Girl in 1992. She released a solo hiphop single entitled in Run For Your Life 1993. Then she took part to eurodance projects Sharif, Neo Project and the Bingo Boys. She also worked with artists such as Jennifer Rush, Osibisa, Wayne Shorter, Working Week and Edwin Star.

She toured on national and internationl stages with heer band Dorretta Carter & Her Funkmonsters. She also worked as vocalist for fusion project Scetches.

1999 : she released 2 solo albums : For Mabel and Look At The Light

2007 : with guitarist Thomas Lang, bassist Ivan Ruiz and percussionist Eldis La Rosa, she founded band Dorretta Carters HOT POT.

2008 : she recorded and album called Tribute to James Brown Live

2010 : Dorretta is a part of the jazz, acid, soul and hiphop collective Juicy Bits
