BKS biography

BKS comes from the producers' team names : Hernie Bekker - Greg Kavanagh - Chris Sheppard. They describe their music as Techno-House, anyway some of their release are very nice eurodance tracks.

Bekker claims an African birth heritage and acclimitization in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa with muscical backgrounds as a jazz musician, band leader, and producer of Dan Gibson's Solitudes series. Kavanagh produced Carol Medina's Secret Fantasy disc as well as the Canadian All Stars A Tribute to Glenn Miller and he is a guitarist. Sheppard is hailed as Canada's premiere radio DJs with his own syndicated radio program "Chris Sheppard Pirate Radio" which also became the name of the 1994 compilation CD series.

The trio first cracked the US and Canadian dance charts with their 1992 debut single Living In Ecstasy from the album For Those About To Rave... We Salute You which wound up on MuchMusic X-tendamix Dance Mix '93 CD compilation (going to #1 and selling 70 000 copies in Canada). Living in Ecstacy also entered the Billboard top 20.

1993 saw the full album Dreamcatcher, featuring the hit title track, go Top 3 on the national dance charts. They were able to follow that up with 1994's I'm In Love With You and 1995's Square Dance Song as a team up with violinist Ashley MacIsaac and the vocalist Simone Denny (who had contributed to the albums of some Canadian artists, such as Maestro Fresh-Wes or Jazmin). The tune went Top-5 on the Canadian singles charts.

With high profile gigs at the annual CMVA's at MuchMusic and Molly Johnson's Kumbaya Festival at Ontario Place in Toronto they released one more disc, Astroplane, once again featuring vocals by Simone Denny, which failed to overwhelm the satiated Toronto dance scene. Anyway, the single Astroplane won the Much Music Video Award (Best Dance Video) in 1996 and the Juno Award for Best Dance Recording in 1997.

In October 1997, Sheppard signed a development deal with BMG Canada and the result was the debut of his next act, Love Inc., in 1998. He featured Simone Denny as vocalist.

In 2004, Simone Denny did vocals on the single All Things (Just Keep Getting Better) by Widelife. In 2005, she released a solo single entitled Cliché.
