My 10 favourite eurodance songs about religion
Religious music music is often looked upon as just (quite boring) hymns and gospel music. Fortunately, eurodance composers are there to deliver great upbeat, fun tunes you can move to. And after all, like Faithless said "God is a DJ" ! There are even eurodance projects devoted to God (such as DJC or more recently G-powered). Since eurodance was mostly produced in Italy and Germany, you'll find mainly Christian themes. So, my brothers and sisters, listen to the holy words of eurodance and pray ! Amen.

Hare Krishna combines an amazing melody with children voices. A pure eurodance gem, and a real rarity.
#2
One of my favourite DJ Bobo singles of all time. A brilliant hymn to peace, hope and tolerance featuring dance divas Lori Glori and Jocelyn Brown. This is one of these songs capable of making us better human beings.
#3
Featuring Sandy Chambers, this irresistible eurodance song brilliantly combines religion and eurodance music. I have a slight preference for the Euro mix, but Club mix is awesome too. And I really wonder who is the curly-haired model on the record sleeve...

On Earth As it Is In Heaven
Featuring vocals by Linda Rocco, raps by Ian Carma and a superb eurodance organ melody, this single was composed and written by Mr Jay Be, Michael LL Muman and Capony and released in November 1994 under the label Shift Music. Paternoster succesfully revisits this classical christian prayer. It often happens that the Lord's praise can best be done through song.
#5
This was Lasgo's third single, released in October 2002. Videoclip was shot in Long Island, in the USA, and directed by Alex Diezinger just like the 2 previous ones. Featuring vocals by Evi Goffin, as well as the distinctive Lasgo sound, single went #11 in Belgium.
#6
Another religious-inspired song featuring Sandy Chambers, whose lovely and powerful voice provides the angel wings that this song rides upon. Produced by Ricky Bolognesi, it was released in 1995 under Lupomannaro records. A downtempo version (probably Slow Driving Version) was released on a digital EP in 2010, along with other Ricky Bolognesi slow unreleased songs.
#7
Voodoo Nation was created by German producers Joel Cairo and Ramon Zenker. Ritual is a gorgeous eurodance song featuring samples of voices and incantations, and a chorus sung by an unknown female vocalist. Voodoo describes a set of religious practices which originated from the traditions of the African diaspora.
#8
Produced by Patrizia F, the single is a mainly instrumental track, with samples of voice by Paolo Spagnolo and some raps. A very hard to find single.
#9
The single was composed, written and co-produced by Levent Karahan and produced by Giorgio and Martin Koppehele, renowned for their work with Odyssey, Garfield and Splash. This fast-paced eurodance track features a male rapper, who plays the role of the preacherman, and a female vocalist for the chorus, both uncredited.
#10
DJC from album Eternal Contract
DJC stood for Disciples of Jesus Christ. This Swedish Eurodance group featured rapper Göran Carlsson and 2 female vocalists, Rebecca Eriksson and Annika Henriksson. In 1996 they released an album, Eternal Contract, a monument of christian propaganda, from which this lovely eurodance track is taken.
#11
DC Project BONUS TRACK
Mary's Prayer was a cover of a song originally released by Scottish pop group Danny Wilson in 1988, and featured on the soundtrack for the movie There's Something About Mary. DC Project's version did not have the same brilliant path. However, it is an excellent eurodance track, featuring Alexa (a mysterious vocalist whose name was very often mistyped as Alexia or Aleexa on the web). According to the legend, the Mary refers to a friend of the songwriter going through a tough time then, and not to holy virgin. Some other sources say it refers to Mary Clark, the Danny Wilson guitarists grandma.
#13
Dr Alban BONUS TRACK
This is one of Dr Alban's most well-known hits, a real classic, so it could not be missed. Coming along with a sunny videoclip, it went #5 in Australia, #7 in France and Austria, #3 in Belgium, #4 in Switzerland, #6 in the Netherlands and Sweden, #8 in Norway.
