My 10 favourite eurodance songs about far West
When it comes to far West and cowboys, one immediately think about Rednex and a few other projects which were created in their trail (2 Cowboys, 2 In A Tent). Many eurodance producers were inspired by the theme. So put on your Stetson, jump on your horse and let's go for a ride through the plains !

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
My favourite Flexx song is about one of my favourite movie. What a coincidence ! A great and powerful eurodance track featuring vocals by Kajsa Mellgren and Lotten Andersson and raps by Christoff Ljung and Malvern Mandengu, as well as a melody strongly reminding of Morricone's soundtracks.

Featuring backing vocals by diva Angie Brown as well as a few gunshot sounds, this is a little masterpiece from UK boys band produced by Ray Hedges in 1995, not to be confused with the Belgian boys project of the same name. A videoclip was shot in Las Vegas, directed by Julian Barton and produced by Nick Burgess-Jones.
#3
An extremely rare and uplifting eurodance song by this Swedish project featuring performers TK, Strobe, Fred and Topaz. Horses galloping and gunshot sounds put you into a western mood. Enjoyable and catchy, an excellent track in the whole, the perfect sountrack to ride a rodeo bull.

The song that revealed Rednex and rocketed them to the tops of the charts all over the world, nowadays a classic anthem played in every party and country event. Inspired from a traditional folk song, it went #1 in Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switerzerland, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway and UK. It was featured in many movies (The Negociator, Space Truckers, Hood Of Horror). It was covered by Italian project Isaac Payton Sweat (and later by various projects such as DJ Kee, Starsound Orchestra and Fun Tastic 3), and re-released in 2002 with new remixes. Probably one of the most well-known 90s dance tracks. Period.

We could fill up this playlist only with Rednex songs, since they released so many around the theme. The Way I Mate, first single to be taken from their second album Farm Out, was their 7th single and, even if it was less succesful than Cotton Eye Joe, it went #22 in Austria, #34 in Germany, #58 in the Netherlands, #7 in their homeland Sweden and #37 in Switzerland. It came along with a video as crazy and unbridled as usual, featured a 3D vintage train.

It starts like a cowboys movie... Taken from their third album Extra, it is one of Sound Of RELS last singles and a quite hard-to-find one. Not their best, but a bouncy and nice eurodance track anyway.

Where Have All The Cowboys Gone
Where Have All The Cowboys Gone is a cover of a song originally released by Paula Cole by Klone Records project Atlanta. Featuring vocals by female vocalist Nicola Hawkins, this is a very nice eurodance song.
#8
Cowboy Joe from album Toy Ride
In this irresistible, tongue-in-cheek bubble-gum track taken from their 2nd album Toyride, Anila and Amir tell the story of a cowboy called Mighty Joe, the good guy, who is fighting against a bandit called Bob... Banjos, gunshots and wild shouts, nothing is missing !
#9
Released in 2003 in their homecountry, then in 2005 in Germany, Cowboy topped the charts in these countries. It came along with a high budget video which featured Cilla, Rach-L, Kevin and Peter helping a cowboy whose horses were stolen by the local villain. Featuring the unavoidable gunfight scene... Of course, they finally defeat the bad guy and put him in jail.
#10
OK Corral (the cotton remixes)
OK Corral! was originally released in 1990. Following the massive success of Rednex's Cotton Eye Joe, DWA probably thought it was the right moment to rejuvenate the track with some new, more eurodance-sounding remixes. So dust off your boots on these nice remixes !
