My 10 favourite eurodance peace songs
One of the usual criticisms against eurodance is that lyrics are poor and that they don't talk about anything serious. This playlist is here to prove they are wrong. 60s and 70s don't have the monopoly for peace songs. Eurodance provided many positive, uplifting, and inspiring songs. Here are my 10 favourite eurodance songs which spread the message of peace, hope and love. Utopist ? Maybe. Most of them were produced in Germany.
#1
A superb eurodance song to plea for peace in the world in several languages. Exotic and powerful, a real masterpiece released in 1995, featuring female vocals by Doretta Carter, and raps by Monder & Mike Neni. I had a crush on this one since the very first hearing.
#2
A message of hope, a very moving call for global understanding and world peace, performed by big names of eurodance : dance diva Lori Glori and famous rapper Erik Trinkaus. "Give peace a chance. For a new generation". Highly recommended.
#3
My favourite DJ Bobo single ever. Featuring female vocals by Natascha Wright and Lisa Abbott, the maxi CD contained several excellent eurodance remixes. Peace and love always were DJ Bobo's priviledged themes : "No more pain. No more lies. No more panic in the children's eyes."
#4
Another German eurodance gem, produced by Mike Staab (Magic Affair) and Uwe Wagenknecht, and featuring ragga-raps by Dwight Anthony Hayden, more famous for his contribution to 2 For Love project. The message of this song is at the core of what is needed to achieve world peace...
#5
A beautiful, timeless song about how we can begin today to start creating a world of peace : "We've got to stick together
#6
Another DJ Bobo song in this playlist. You've been warned... A superb hymn to tolerance, peace and unity, full of hope. A tribute to cross-cultural compassion fueled by gorgeous voices of dance divas Lori Glori and Jocelyn Brown.
#7
This excellent Dutch eurodance track featured female vocalist Lilian and male rapper Ernest. This hymn to peace was written and produced by Farid Oueslati, Joost Walter and Mustafa Alici. "Peace, Love & Happiness" : the title says it all. The lyrics provide inspiration that shows there really is a way to have peace on earth.
#8
Volare Cantare (Love Generation) from album Love Generation
A tribute to hippies and flower power, a naive and graceful plea for more joy and laughter for their children, featured on Blondes' first album Love Generation, an almost impossible to find album nowadays. Czech eurodance project Blondes featured a duet of (of course) blond-haired female vocalists (Lenka and Markéta) and the rapper Paul Blond.
#9
Peace Love Unity from album I Feel Good
Peace Love Unity appeared on Maduar's first album I Feel Good, a pure rarity, featuring Barbara Hascakova, who would then because famous as a member of eurodance duet MC Erik & Barbara.
#10
We Are The World from album Non-Stop
This very nice Fun Factory track was included on their Non Stop!, never released as a single. "We are the world, we're all the same. If you're black or white you got to play the game". An hymn to tolerance and unity, an iconic and powerful song that makes you dream about a world filled with love, hope and possibility.
