Plavka - The interview

Plavka is known as the vocalist of Jam & Spoon, with whom she released the 90s anthem Right In The Night, but also for other hits like Kaleidoscope Skies, Don't Call It love.

Hey Plavka how are you ?

Hi Tavi ! I'm doing great!

Excited about my upcoming shows next weekend in Santa Ana and Dallas!

What does Plavka stand for ?

Plavka is a Croatian name that means blue with a feminine ending.

What is doing a soprano singer on dance ?

I did train a bit in opera at college but I went into pop music because I liked that it is was more about expressing yourself and less about technique.

Your first dance project was The Shamen !? Plavka and The Shamen is really a coincidence ?

Yes- The Shamen was the first group I had chart success with but before that I was releasing music under the name Rising High Collective. This was Caspar Pound and I. We released the critically acclaimed song, Fever Called Love. It was one of the first dance tracks to use real song structure with a vocal.

Jam and Spoon was the project that really made you more popular !?

Yes, with Jam & Spoon, I went on to make 3 albums with them and some great hit singles!

How did you meet the guys ?

I was doing my Rising High Collective project when Jam & Spoon approached my manager to ask me to record Right In the Night.

My favorite album is Kaleidoscope and one of my favorites songs are Guiding Light, Kiss Away, Garden Of Eden, Suspicious Minds. What can you tell me about those songs, do they have a story ?

Kaleidoscope - our second album, gave me the chance to write. I wrote the lyrics and melodies for the title track, Kaleidoscope Skies, Guiding Light, Kiss Away, Garden of Eden and Suspicious Minds. It was a great opportunity!

I'm not a Capricorn :)). laughs . I'm an Aries!
Do you believe in faith ?

What about love of first sight ? Do you believe in this!?

I believe in lust at first sight! I believe real love takes a bit of time!

What you think about music nowdays ?

I love current music, Trap, hip hop and dance-influenced pop.

Do you think having a miserable character will succeed in this industry ?

I believe in faith to a degree but I believe in making things happen yourself.

What are your future plans ?

After these shows next weekend, I hope to do more around the US and Europe. I am in the process of recording some new music as a featured artist. So watch out for that!
